The Japanese have really caught on to the idea of blueberries being beneficial. Bottles of juice from the berry are widely sold for the beneficial effects. Japanese studies indicate stronger eyesight and less strain on eyes. The chemical credited for these improvements is anthocyanin, which is also beneficial for digestion, brain health, and heart health.

One study from Dr. James Joseph shows that eating blueberries every day will help retain motor skills, memory, and even slow the aging process. Additional studies have shown that brain-related diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease have been combated resulting in improvement of short-term memory.

Other significant benefits of eating blueberries include stopping development of diseases in the heart by helping slow the accumulation of anterior plaque and bad cholesterol. Another exciting benefit of eating blueberries is the high amounts of antioxidants that can actually help slow the aging process.
