Find out the peak seasons for Florida produce

Did you know that between November and May each year, Florida produces about 300 agricultural products? It’s true! These commodities are sold across the U.S. and in more than 120 countries around the world.   It’s an important part of Florida’s economy and is strongly supported by the state’s Department of Agriculture and Consumer Affairs and the Fresh from Florida initiative that began in 2004. Just in the last decade, crops that have doubled in production, and in some cases tripled, such as blueberries, strawberries and watermelon. 

Have you ever thought about eating seasonally? Eating fresh local produce when it is in season offers a variety of benefits including: products are fresher and tastier; nutritional value of products is optimized; it encourages a diverse diet; it is often more economical; and it harmonizes with nature’s production cycle.
