Blueberry Gin Sour – First Order Gin – Berries, Gin, Lemon, Simple

Blueberry Gin Sour

Blueberry Gin Sour FI

There is no easier way to make a delightful summer cocktail than to use fresh fruit, lemon, gin, and simple. That’s it for the Blueberry Gin Sour! Fresh berries make the difference here. I opted for really ripe berries, just on the edge to going bad to get more of the blueberry flavor.

I also used Bombay – a gold standard in cocktails. It’s a great gin by itself, and it’s just so blendable and smooth in a mixed drink. Other London dry gins would also work here. Fresh lemon juice is best, here, too. This recipe only calls for two tablespoons of lemon juice, so you are not stuck squeezing fruit all afternoon.

Use fresh berries and lemon juice to make this Blueberry Gin Sour. Add a touch of simple syrup and some gin, and you are done! Ridicously easy and tasty.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 Oz. Gin
  • 1 Tbsp. Simple syrup
  • 2 Tbsp. Lemon juice
  • .5 Cup Blueberries

Instructions

In your cocktail shaker, combine your blueberries, simple syrup, and lemon juice.

Muddle things up until the blueberries are squashed and squeezed beyond recognition. This doesn’t take long!

Add your gin and some ice to your coctail shaker and go to town.
Double strain into your coupe glass. Garnish with fresh blueberries and/or lemon.

Changing up your Blueberry Gin Sour

Sometimes I like to suggest different ways to alter or enhance a cocktail, but for this one, it’s just perfect as is.

I can suggest that you try this with some other fruits that you may have laying around. Blackberries, strawberries, whatever. The sweeter the fruit, the more lemon juice you may want to add to create that tart bite. Or back off on the simple.

You also have the option of adding an egg white to this sour drink. This just isn’t my speed, so I omit this. If you do want that instagram worthy foam on your cocktail, do the muddling. Then add your gin and egg white without any ice. Shake this around for about twice as long as you think is necessary.

Then add a bit of ice to your cocktail shaker and give it a go for a quick 10 seconds or so. Now you can strain into your cocktail glass and enjoy some foamy goodness.

Cheers! And make good decisions.
