Florida Rose

‘Florida Rose’

Description: ‘Florida Rose’ is a highly photogenic, rabbiteye variety with fruit that are bright pink to red. Its fruit are large with good firmness, scar, and flavor. ‘Florida Rose’ ripens early with ‘Climax’ and should be cross pollinated with other rabbiteyes. ‘Florida Rose’ is excellent for home gardens and pick-your-own operations. ‘Florida Rose’ would be a great novelty item in the home nursery trade or for catalog sales.

Compared to other pink rabbiteye varieties, ‘Florida Rose’ has a lower chilling requirement, making it ideal for areas in north and north-central Florida. Commercial varieties like ‘Pink Lemonade’ do not receive enough chill hours in this region, making ‘Florida Rose’ a great option for Florida growers. ‘Florida rose’ also exhibits larger berries and earlier harvest period than ‘Pink Lemonade’.
